Within the frame of a call for project, the French Government has selected Eolmed, the consortium assembled around BW Ideol’s floating technology, for the development and construction of a 30MW Mediterranean offshore wind farm (3 wind turbines) 15 km off the coastal town of Gruissan.

The consortium is led by the French renewable energy developer Qair and includes Total, BW Ideol and its Damping Pool concrete floater and the wind turbine manufacturer MHI Vestas.

The commissioning of the wind farm is expected by 2023.

BW Ideol's scope of work 

BW Ideol is a project partner and supplier of the floating foundation technology.

 

Schedule 

Summer 2016 : attribution of the Gruissan site to the consortium Qair - BW Ideol

2017-2018 : engineering and application for authorisation 

2022-2023 : construction

2023 : operation for a 20 year period

BW Ideol and Ardersier Port Authority have signed a strategic partnership agreement

Ardersier Port Authority and BW Ideol have signed a formal partnership agreement on September 20. Under this agreement, BW Ideol has gained an exclusive and long-term access to Ardersier Port for the manufacturing of concrete floaters and both Parties have agreed to explore the set-up of a serial production line dedicated to the delivery of locally manufactured floating wind substructures based on BW Ideol’s proven Damping Pool ® technology.

BW Ideol has signed a partnership agreement with EDF Renewables & Maple Power for France’s first commercial-scale floating offshore wind tender in South Brittany

BW Ideol has entered into a partnership agreement with EDF Renewables, a subsidiary of EDF Group, and Maple Power, a joint venture between CPP Investments and Enbridge Inc., to cooperate on the design of the technical solution for the floating foundations in the context of France’s first commercial-scale floating wind tender.

The French government has announced today that Eoliennes Flottantes Bretagne Grand Large, a company owned by EDF Renewables and Maple Power, has been selected to participate in the tender process.
